Preparation Tips for ISO

  • Students should become familiar with the ISO exam format and begin to prepare for it.
  • Along with conceptual knowledge, the exam evaluates the students’ observational and logical abilities. There won’t be any direct questions; rather, the basis of a question will more often be an application of a previously learned subject.
  • Students must carefully go over the textbooks that the school board (ICSE/CBSE/State Board) has recommended. Additionally, to improve the ISO ranking, students can refer to books that are available for Olympiad preparation.
  • Practise the question papers from the previous years in advance if students are taking ISO for the first time or if they regularly participate in the exam. Students’ understanding of the types of questions given will improve once they have completed the sample papers. They help speed up the process of attempting the questions within the allotted time. The official website is where students can find the sample papers.
  • Prepare study materials ahead of time. Do not squander time frantically searching for study resources.
  • Make a schedule and follow it. Practise a variety of subjects. Work on the areas of weakness. Start well in advance and plan well so that you don’t want to overwhelm yourself.

Frequently Asked Questions on ISO 2022-2023

Q1

What is the ISO olympiad exam?

The International Science Olympiad (ISO), which began in 1989, allows students to demonstrate their abilities in science. Science has always been a topic that requires students to recall a lot of theories. As a result, students memorise everything and present it in their papers without understanding them. However, understanding the subject, rather than memorising it, will be beneficial in everyday life. It is a graded subject in which students must master ideas.
Q2

What is the syllabus for the ITO?

The Indian Talent Olympiad Organisation holds national and worldwide tests for state, international, ICSE, and CBSE boards students in grades 1 to 10. Students must refer to their individual board patterns, Indian Talent Olympiad books, and previous years’ question paper sets, all of which are available on the website at https://www.indiantalent.org/olympiad-books/. The questions follow the multiple-choice format.
Q3

How many students from a school can participate in the olympiad exam?

A school must have a minimum of 40 students to participate in the Indian Talent Olympiad (ITO). There is no maximum number of participants.
