The RMO (Regional Math Olympiad) is the second level of the Indian mathematics talent search examination. Under the supervision of HBCSE, Mumbai, the exam is administered by the Regional Coordinator. The evaluation of the answer sheets is the responsibility of the regional coordinator. After reviewing the students’ answers, the results are sent to HBCSE, published online.

Most students who qualify for the second round will be unfamiliar with the question format and scoring method since the Olympiads are not like regular high school maths exams. As a result, they should begin their studies by analyzing the RMO Exam Pattern.
Exam Pattern of RMO 2022
Candidates preparing for the RMO 2022 (Regional Mathematics Olympiad) must understand the Exam Pattern.

The PRMO Examination will take three hours to complete the offline exam, and candidates must answer all questions. Their responses will be evaluated based on their level of accuracy.
RMO Syllabus
Topics from Class IX to Class XII are included in the Syllabus. Typically, the problems come from Algebra, Number Theory, Geometry, and Combinatorics. The course does not cover topics like calculus or statistics. The following are some of the most important topics.
- Algebra: Polynomials, Graphical method of solving equations, Quadratic equations, Root coefficient relationship, etc.
- Number Theory: Divisibility, Modular Arithmetic, Euclidean and Division Algorithm, Diophantine equations, Problem Solving Strategies, etc.
- Combinatorics: Permutation and Combination, Sets, Ball and Bar question, Graph Theory, etc.
- Geometry: Lines and Curves, Solutions of a triangle, Ceva’s theorem, Menelaus’s theorem, Ptolemy’s theorem, etc.
Tips for RMO 2022 Preparation
RMO test preparation ideas are provided here to assist the students in preparing for the exam.
Focus on the positive and negative points
When working on different challenges, try to concentrate on the areas where you feel you are inadequate. Students should focus on Combinatorics, Geometry, and Number Theory based on the exam pattern.
Solve previous years’ question papers and sample papers
It will assist students in becoming familiar with the test’s exam structure and pattern. Instead of a whole question bank, use these papers as practice materials. RMO is a concept-based test, so it’s essential to understand the theorems and the solutions. Students will save time and effort, if they thoroughly understand important theorems and their implications.
Carefully read and understand the questions
Pay close attention to the questions. When a problem appears to be too simple, it’s a hint that you should pay more attention and read more carefully.
