1)Chemistry of actenoids is complicated and is not fully studied. Why?
2)What are Transuranium elements?
3)Why are D-block elements called Transition Elements?
4)What are Inner Transition Elements?

Solution

Dear student ,

(1) the complicated study of the actinoids is due to their several oxidation states like ; +2 , +3 , +4, +5 , +6 and +7 ; this is due to small energy difference between 5f , 6d and 7s subshells.
(2) the elements lying after thr uranium (Z = 92) in the actinoids are known as trans- uranium elements.
(3) the name transition given to the elements of d- block is due to their position between s- and p- block elements. ( between highly electropositive and weakly electropositive elements )
(4) the elements in which the differntiating electrons enter into (n-2) f - subshell are called inner transition elements.
