1-propanol and 2-propanol can be distinguished by Lucas test. 2-propanol produces cloudiness within few minutes with Lucas reagent (ZnCl2/HCl). The cloudiness is due to the formation of immiscible alkyl halide. But the primary alcohol 1-propanol does not react with Lucas reagent at room temperature.
