Let x be the number of men required to dig a trench of 27 meter.

Length ( in m ) 634=27427
Since, the length of the trench and the number of men are in direct variation, we have:
11x=27/427

11×27=x×274

x=11×27×427

x=44

44 men will be required to dig a trench of 27 meter.
