Since, no. of men and length of trench are inversely proportional, therefore,

$\Rightarrow \frac{11}{x}=\frac{\frac{27}{4}}{27}$

$\Rightarrow x\times \frac{27}{4}=27\times 11$

$\Rightarrow 11\times 4=x$

Thus, number of men required are $44$.
