1,2-dibromoburane is allowed to react with Mg in dry ether .The product formed is (along with mechanism)

The product formed is but-1-ene and MgBr2.
This is because when the formation of grignard reagent takes place,there is one more nucleophile present in the same molecule in the vicinty,so both the bromine are removed by Mg2+ ion and but-1-ene is formed as product.This is an elimination reaction because both the Br are removed.
