Solution

The correct option is A 2 : 1
Let 1 man's 1 days' work = x and 1 boy's 1 days' work = y
Then 12 x + 16y = 15.............(i)
13x + 24y = 14.............(ii)
Multiplying (i) by 3 and (ii) by 2 we get
36 x + 48y = 35.............(iii)
26x + 48y = 12.............(iv)
Subtracting eqn (iv) from eqn (iii) we get 10x=3512=6510=110x=110
Putting x = 1100 in (i) we get 12100+16y=1516y=1512100=2012100=8100y=1200
Required ratio = x:y=1100:1200=2:1
