Given mass of carbon dioxide (CO2) = 16 g

Gram molecular mass of CO2:

Atomic mass of carbon + Atomic mass of oxygen × 2
= 12 + (16 × 2)
= 44 g

Number of moles in the given mass of CO2, n = Given mass in gramsGram molecular mass

= 1644= 0.363 mol

We know that,
1 mole of a substance contains =6.022×1023 molecules
Thus, 0.363 mol CO2 contains 0.363×6.02×1023 = 2.18×1023 molecules.
