16 hemispheres of radius 2 cm are melted to make a single sphere. Find the radius of the sphere.
Let the radius of sphere and hemisphere be r2 and r1 respectively.
Volume of one hemisphere = 23 × 227× r31
Volume of a sphere = 43 × 227× r32
According to the question,
16 × 23 × 227× r31 = 43 × 227× r32
⇒ r32 = 8r31
⇒ r32 = 23 × 23 [∵ r1 = 2 cm ]
⇒ r2 = 2 × 2
⇒ r2 = 4 cm
