Let the cost of each pen be Rs x

and the cost of each notebook be Rs y

$3x+4y=110$ ----- (1)

$7x+5y=170$ ------(2)

solving (1) and (2)

we get, $x=10$ and $y=20$

Therefore the cost of each pen is $Rs10$

and the cost of each notebook is $Rs20$
