Let one pen costs Rs. x and one pencil Rs. y.

3x + 2y = 32 …(i)

9x + 3y = 93 …(ii)

On multiplying (i) by 9 and (ii) by 3

$\Rightarrow$ 18y - 9y = 288 - 279

$\Rightarrow$ 9y = 9

$\Rightarrow$ $y=\frac{9}{9}=1$

On substituting value of y in equation (i), we get

$\Rightarrow$ 3x + 2 $\times$ 1 = 32

$\Rightarrow$ 3x + 2 = 32

$\Rightarrow$ 3x = 32 – 2

$\Rightarrow$ 3x = 30

$\Rightarrow$ x$=\frac{30}{3}=10$
