Solution

Let x be number of passengers before station X.

Given 30% of x got down at station X.

=30100×x

=0.3x got down at station x

So, remaining passengers left at station X is =x0.3x=0.7x

After station Y, the passengers left =0.7x70% of 0.7x

=0.7x0.49x

=0.21x

Given 0.21x=1050

x=10500.21

x=5000 passengers onboarding in the train before station X.
