Let x be number of passengers before station X.

Given $30\%$ of x got down at station X.

=$\frac{30}{100}\times x$

=$0.3x$ got down at station x

So, remaining passengers left at station X is $=x-0.3x=0.7x$

After station Y, the passengers left $=0.7x-70\%$ of $0.7x$

=$0.7x-0.49x$

$=0.21x$

Given $0.21x=1050$

$\Rightarrow x=\frac{1050}{0.21}$

$\therefore x=5000$ passengers onboarding in the train before station X.
