Solution

The correct option is C 473,713 kg
Chocolate used to make doors and windows =477,130 kg
Unused chocolate =3,417kg
While subtracting two numbers, the digits at ones, tens, hundreds, thousands, and ten thousands places of a smaller number should be subtracted from the corresponding digits at ones, tens, hundreds, thousands, and ten thousands places of the larger number.

Here we have to do regrouping.
We can’t subtract the bigger digit from the smaller digit. For this, we should regroup using the next term.
But the digit at tens place is 3. Thus, we regroup 3 from tens place. The digit at tens place becomes 2, and the digit at ones place becomes 10. Now, we can subtract. It will be: 10 - 7 = 3.
- Now, subtract the digits at tens place: 2 - 1 = 1
We regroup 7 from the thousands place. The digit at hundreds place becomes 11, and the digit at thousands place becomes 6.
- Subtract the digits at hundreds place: 11 - 4 = 7
- Subtract the digit at thousands place: 6 - 3 = 3
- Further subtract 7 - 0 = 7 and 4 - 0 = 4.

Thus, the amount of chocolate that remained unused was 473,713 kg.
