7921 soldiers sat in an auditorium in such a way that there are as many soldiers in a row as there are rows in the auditorium. How many rows are there in an auditorium

Open in App
Solution

Step 1: Given Information

Let the number of rows in the auditorium = n

Number of soldiers seated in each row = n (As there are as many soldiers in a row as there are rows in the auditorium )

Step 2: Find the number of rows in the auditorium

Numberofrowsintheauditorium×Numberofsoldierseatedineachrow=Totalnumberofsoldiers

n×n=7921

n2=7921

n=7921 (applying square root on both sides )

n=89 ( On solving 7921we get 89)

Hence, the number of rows in the auditorium is n=89

So, the number of soldiers seated in each row is also 89and the number of rows is also 89.
