Question

A and B are 2 points on a circular ring made of uniform wire of resistance R. I f part of AB ring, subtends an angle theta at the centre C of the ring. Find the resistance of the ring between points A and B

Solution

Since angle 2π of a circular ring has resistance=RThen angle of 1° subtended at the centre of the ring will have resistance=R2π.Therefore AB part of the ring making angle θ will has resistance=R2π×θ.But θ=arc ABr, where r is the radius of cicular ring . So putting the value of θ in above equation, we get,Resistance of part AB=R2π×arc ABr.
