Let one rupee coin be equal to x

Now making the equation :

$2x+3x\left(0.5\right)+4x\left(0.25\right)=216$

$2x+1.5x+x=216$

$4.5x=216$

$x=48$

Number of 50 paise coins $=3\ast 48=144$
