Both balls have same mass m
the linear momentum before collision is mu+0=mu
suppose after collision they have velocities V1 and V2
then the momentum after collision will be mV1+mV2=m(V1+V2)
momentum should be conserved so mu=m(V1+V2) or V1+V2=u.......(1)

coefficient of restitution is defined as e=SeparationApproach=V2V1u0 so we get V2V1=eu...........(2)

solving equation-1 and equation-2 we get V1V2=1e1+e
