Let a body of mass m placed at a height h above the ground, start falling down from rest.`
When the body falls from a height h to h/2, the potential energy is given as mgh2.
The body covers the distance h/2 with a velocity v. We make use of the third equation of motion to obtain velocity of the body.

Here, u=0,a=g and S=x

v20=2gh2,thatisv2=gh

Kinetic energy = 12mv2

That is, K.E=mgh2

Hence, at height h/2 the energy possessed is half potential energy and half the kinetic energy.
