Question

A body is projected vertically upward direction from the surface of earth. If upward direction is taken as positive, then acceleration of body during its upward and downward journey are respectively

Ans:- negative, negative

Please explain why is this so?????

When body is moving up and down the gravitational force or g is acting on the body in only on e direction i.e. downward so the acceleration is -ve.

Its simple idea.we are considering up ward direction as +ve, then the opposite direction ,that is,downward direction is taken as -ve.
