Question

A body thrown up with some initial velocity reaches a maximum height of $$50\;m$$. Another body with double the mass thrown up with double the initial velocity will reach a maximum height of :

A
100 m
loader
B
200 m
loader
C
400 m
loader
D
50 m
loader

Solution

The correct option is C $$200$$ m
$$s \propto u^2$$ for maximum height,
$$\Rightarrow \dfrac {s_1}{s_2} = \dfrac {u_1^2}{u_2^2}$$
$$\Rightarrow \dfrac {50}{s_2} = (\dfrac {u}{2u})^2 \Rightarrow s_2 = 200\  m$$
