Question

A brass tumbler feels much colder than a wooden tray on a chilly day. Explain why.

Solution

Both brass and wood are at the same temperature. However, as brass is a good conductor of heat, it allows heat from our body to flow through it quickly. So it feels colder. On the other hand, wood is a poor conductor and doesn't allow heat to flow easily.
