A butler stole wine from a butt of sherry which contained $32\%$ of spirit and then replaced it by wine containing only $18\%$The butt was then of $24\%$ only.How much of the butt had he stolen?

$X be the amount of wine , y be the amount was remouned. Remaining = x-y

Amount of shirt remaining = 0.3 (x-y)

y is added but it contains 12% of wine.

so total spirit left = $0.3(x-y)+0.12y=0.18x$

so $y=\frac{0.12x}{0.18}=\frac{2x}{3}$, so ${\frac{2}{3}}^{rd}$ of wine was stolen.
