Question

A car of mass $$1500 kg$$ rounds a curve of radius $$250 m$$ at $$90 {km}/{hr}$$. Calculate the centripetal force acting on it.


Solution

Given, $$m=1500kg$$
            $$r=250m$$
            $$v=90{ km }/{ hr }=\dfrac { 90\times 1000 }{ 60\times 60 } =25{ m }/{ s }$$
Centripetal force $$F=\dfrac { m{ v }^{ 2}}{ r }$$
                            $$ =\dfrac { 1500\times { \left( 25 \right)  }^{ 2 } }{ 250 } =3750N$$
