Let, the internal resistance be r and the resistance adjusted in rheostat be R.

Then, the circuit is represented for the given situation as follows,



V=EIr ...(1)

I = Er+R ...(2)

From (1) and (2),

V=I(r+R)Ir

V=IR

V=ERr+R ...(3)

When R=0 then V=0

And when R = then V = Er+1

i.e. V=E

Plotting graph from equation (3), we get


Hence, option (d) is the correct option.
