where ν is frequency of light ν=cλ

from equation (i)

3eV=hcλhcλthreshold...(ii)

eV=hc2λhcλthreshold...(iii)

multiplying (iii) by 3 and subtracting (ii)

0=hc2λ2hcλthreshold
