Given that,
Total Number of Squares $$= 64$$
Area of each square $$= 6.25cm^{2}$$
Let side of each square be $$x$$
$$\Rightarrow x^{2} = 6.25$$
$$\Rightarrow x = 2.5 cm$$

Border width $$= 2cm$$
Along each side, total $$8$$ squares are present
$$\therefore$$ Length of Chess-Board $$= 2\times2cm + 8\times2.5cm$$
                                            $$= 24 cm$$
