A container is filled upto half of its capacity and a glass is filled upto one fourth of its capacity with water , capacity of container =8 litres and capacity of glass = 400 ml. The container and the glass were poured in a tub , how much water is there in the tub?[3 Marks]

Total water in container = capacity of container/2 as it is half filled
Total water in container=8 litres/2
Total water in container=4 litres[1 Mark]

Total water in glass =capacity of glass /4 as only one fourth of the glass is filled
Total water in glass=400 ml/4
Total water in glass=100 ml[1 Mark]

After pouring the container and the glass in a tub,
Total water in the tub=water in container +water in glass

Total water in the tub=4 litres +100 ml
Total water in the tub=4000 ml+100 ml
Total water in the tub=4100 ml[1 Mark]
