Solution

Given,
The ratio of ages =12:15=4:5
Total money =1800

So, the money has to be divided in the ratio 4:5

Let the shares be 4x and 5x respectively. [0.5 marks]
Now, 4x+5x=18009x=1800x=200 [0.5 marks]

The share of the 12 year old son
=4x=4×200= 800 [1 mark]

The share of the 15 year old son
=5x=5×200= 1000 [1 mark]

Hence, the shares of 12 year old son and 15 year old son are ₹800 and ₹1000 respectively.
