Solution

The correct option is B 1.764 cm3
Since the coefficient of linear expansion of glass is 1.8×106/oC, and assuming glass to be isotropic in nature, the coefficient of volumetric expansion of glass will be 3×1.8×106/oC
Mercury will spill if the coefficient of volume expansion of glass is lesser than that of the mercury.
Let ΔV be the volume of the mercury spilled,
ΔV=V0(γmγg)×ΔT
where γ is the coefficient of volume expansion
Putting the values
ΔV=200×(1.8×1043×1.8×106)×50
ΔV=1.764 cm3
