Solution

Let a hiker covers distance =x

a hiker takes time =y

A hiker covers 16km in =4hours

A hiker covers xkm in =7hours

As the distance increases, takes time also increases in the same ratio. It is a case of direct proportion.

We make use of the relation of type x1x2=y1y2

x1=16;x2=x;y1=4;y2=7

So,

16x=47

4×x=16×7x=16×74x=164×74x=4×7x=28

Hence the A hiker covers 7hours is 28km
