A house is fitted with 4 lamps 60w each, 2 fans rated 100w each, an electric kettle rated 2KW. If the energy costs Rs. 5.50 per KWh, calculate the monthly bill (of 30 days) for running the appliances for 5 hours a day.

Total units consumed hour $= \frac{(60 \times 4) + (100 \times 2) + (2000)}{1000}$
$= \frac{240 + 200 + 2000}{1000}$
$= \frac{2440}{1000}$ KWh
$= 2.44$ KWh

Total units consumed for 5 hours a day for 30 days
$= 2.44 \times 5 \times 30 = 366$ KWh

Total monthly bill
$= R S .5 .50 \times 366 = R s .2013$
