Question

A man sold two articles at $$375$$ each. On the first article, he gains $$25$$% and on the other, he loses $$25$$%. How much does he gain or lose in the whole transaction? Also, find the gain or loss percent in the whole transaction.

Solution

First article
$$SP =375$$
Gain$$\% =25\%$$
CP  $$=\cfrac{ 100 \times 375}{125} = 300$$

Second article
$$SP =375$$
Loss $$\% =25\%$$
CP  $$=\cfrac{ 100 \times 375}{75} = 500$$

Total CP $$= 500+300 = 800$$
Total SP $$= 375+375=700$$

Loss $$=$$ CP $$-$$ SP
Loss $$= 800 - 750 = 50$$
Loss  $$\%= \cfrac{50 \times 100}{800} = 6.25$$%
