A model of an aeroplane is made to a scale of 1 : 400.

(i) the length, in cm, of the model; if the length of the aeroplane is 40 m.

$\frac{x}{40} = \frac{1}{400} x = \frac{40}{400} x = \frac{1}{10} = 0.1$ cm

(ii) the length, in m, of the aeroplane, if the length of its model is 16 cm.

$\frac{16}{x} = \frac{1}{400} x = 6400$ m
