Solution

The correct option is C $$8\%$$ increase
Let the number be $$ x $$
First number $$ = \cfrac {120}{100}x $$
Second number $$ = \cfrac {90}{100} \times \cfrac {120}{100}x = 1.08x $$
So, overall change in the number  $$ \cfrac {1.08x-x}{x} \times 100 = 0.08 \times 100 = 8 $$ % increase.
