A patient in a hospital is given soup daily in a cylindrical bowl of diameter 7 cm. If the bowl is filled with soup to a height of 4 cm. how much soup the hospital has to prepare daily to serve 250 patients ?
Given that Diameter of a cylindrical bowl = 7cm.
Then the radius of the cylindrical bowl r = d/2
= 3.5 cm.
Given that height of the cylindrical bowl = 4cm.
the volume of the soup in each cylindrical bowl = πr2h
= 22/7 x (3.5)2x 4
= 22 x 3.5 x 0.5 x 4
= 154cm3
Then the volume of soup required to serve 250 patients = 250 x 154
= 38500cm3
= 38.5litres.
