Question

A piece of a wire 78 metres long broke into two pieces. One piece was 14 meter long. How long is the other piece?

Open in App
Solution

Length of the wire = 78m
Length of one piece of wire = 14 m
Let the length of the second piece of wire be x m.

∴ Length of the wire = Length of one piece + Length of the second piece
78=14+xx=78-14x=7×18×1-1×24×2=78-28=7-28x=58 m
Therefore, the length of the second piece is 58m.
