Horizontal range is maximum When angle of projection θ is 45

Rmax= u2g= 20210= 40m
Time of flight, T=2usin45g=2×20×1210=22s
The player can catch the ball before reaching the ground if he covers a distance =4024=16m in 22s
The velocity of that player must be =1622=42ms1
