Let the velocity with which the projectile is fired be 'v'.

Here ,r = R1−k2.

Conserving mechanical energy, initially & at its highest point,

12mv2 − GmMR = −GmMr,

Where, m = mass of the projectile,

M = mass of the Earth.

12v2 = GMR − GM(1−k2)R

v2 = 2GMR { k2 } ⇒ v = √2GMR (k).

we already know,

ve = 2GMR

⇒ v = k ve.
