A rectangular piece of land measures 0.7 km by 0.5 km. Each side is to be fenced with 4 rows of wire. What is the length of the wire needed?

Given: Dimension of the rectangular piece of land =0.7 km×0.5 km

Number of rows of wire needed to fence each side =4

Length of wire needed for 1 row of wire = Perimeter of the rectangular wire

The required length of wire =4 × (perimeter of the rectangular land).

Perimeter of the rectangular land =2 × (length + breadth)

=2×(0.7+0.5) km

=2×1.2 km

=2.4 km

=2.4×1000 m [1 km=1000 m ]

=2400 m

Thus, the required length of wire =4×2400=9600 m=9.6 km
