Question

A resistor of 6Ω is connected in series with another resistor of 4Ω. A potential difference of 20V is applied across the combination. Calculate the potential difference across the 6Ω resistor.

Open in App
Solution

R2=4 ohm

R=R1+R2=6+4=10 ohm

V=20V

I=V/R=20/10=2A

R=6Ω

I=2A

V6Ω=?

V6Ω=IR=6×2=12V

Potential difference across 6Ω resistor is 12V
