Solution

The correct option is A Rs. 48
Let orignal cost of each book =x
No. of books bought for Rs. 960 =960x
The cost of each book was Rs. 8 less, then the cost of book =x8
Difference in the no. of books bought =960x8960x=4
240x8240x=1
240x240(x8)=x(x8)
x28x1920=0
x248x+40x1920=0
x(x48)+40(x48)=0
(x+40)(x48)=0
x=40(impossible)and x=48
Orignal cost of each book is 48
Option A is correct.
