Let us consider the problem:
small box contains $$x$$ number of mangoes.
Let us the Given in the problem is Number of mangoes
in large box is $$8$$ times mangoes in small box plus $$4$$
There fore,
$$ = 8x + 4$$ 
Number of mangoes in large box is $$100$$. $$ \to $$ 
Given hence the answer is $$8x + 4 = 100$$
$$x=12$$
