a) The silver metal X is magnesium (Mg).
b) When ignited, Mg is burnt in air to form powde Y that is magnesium oxide (MgO)
c) Mg reacts with oxygen to form MgO
​d) When water is added to MgO, it partially dissolve to form magnesium hydroxide (Mg(OH)2). It is used as antacid to neutralise stomach acid.
e) Balanced chemical equation from X to Y.
