Since the wave is progressing along the positive x-direction, the velocity of the particle at P has to be downward (^j direction)

Each particle executes SHM about its mean positions. So we can find velocity using the relation.

v=ωA2y2
=ω0.120.052
=ω0.120.052

(ω=kvwave=2πλvwave=2π0.50.1=0.4πs1

v=0.4π0.05221=3π0.02=3π50

Therefore, velocity of the particle at P is 3π50^j
