A variable frequency AC source is connected to a capacitor. How will the displacement current change with decrease in frequency?

Solution

On decreasing the frequency, reactance $X C = \frac{1}{ω C}$ will increase which will lead to decrease in conduction current. In this case $I_{D} = I_{C}$ , hence displacement current will decrease.
