A vendor supplies 42 litres of milk to a hotel in the morning and 58 litres in the evening. If the milk costs 15 per litre, how much money is due to the vendor per day. (Use distributive property)

Step 1; Find the cost of 42 litres of milk.

Cost of per litre milk = 15
Therefore, cost of 42 litres of milk =42×15
Step 2; Find the cost of 58 litres of milk.

Therefore cost of 58 litres of milk = 58×15

Step 3; Find the amount due to the vendor per day.

Therefore, the amount due to the vendor per day =42×15+ 58×15

Using Distributive property of Multiplication over Addition

=42×15 + 58×15

=15×(42+58)=15×100=1,500

Hence, 1,500 is due to the vendor per day.
