(a) Amphoteric oxides are those metal oxides which show basic as well as acidic behaviour. They react with acids as well as bases to form salts and water. Aluminium oxide and zinc oxide are examples.

(b) Acidic oxides: CO2 and SO2
Basic oxides: Na2O and MgO
Neutral oxides: N2O, CO and H2O

(c) ZnO and Al2O3 are the amphoteric oxides.
