a) Tranquilizers:
Tranquilizer is used to relieve or reduce stress and anxiety leading to calmness. It affects the transfer of message mechanism from nerve to receptors. Examples include iproniazid, phenelzine, equanil, valium, chlordiaepoxide, veronal, meprobamate and serotonin.
b) Food preservatives work either by physical methods or by chemical methods. Physical methods include addition/removal of heat, removal of water or by irradiation. Chemical methods include addition of sugar/salt/vinegar or certain chemicals such as sodiumbenzoate, salts of sorbic acid and propionic acid.
c) Soaps not work in hard water. hard water contains calcium and magnesium ions. Soap reacts with these ions to form calcium and magnesium salts which are insoluble in water and form sticky scum. This results in wastage of soap and also it damages fibers of clothes.
