Question

Acceleration due to gravity increases / decreases with increasing altitude .

Solution

The value of acceleration due to gravity at a height 'h' above the ground $$g_{h}$$ is given by , $$g_{h}=g\left [ 1-\dfrac{2h}{R_{e}} \right ]$$ where , $$R_{e}$$ is radius of the Earth . Therefore $$g_{h}$$ decreases with an increasing in height.
